Update 02/22: I‘ve actually went with a 340€ 4K 27inch (brand AOC), scaled to 2560x1440 and I am really happy with it. Thanks so much for your help and happy holidays! Will it be enough? It's not for gaming, mostly for working. Its 2,560 x 1,440 resolution is very high, not ‘retina’ high. I've seen some 4k monitors for almost the same price as some 1440p but am worried about the quality a 300 Euro/USD 4k monitor will deliver. Apple iMac 27-inch (2013): Screen Quality The size of the 27-inch iMac means the screen is the first thing most people notice. Will scaling down a 4k to 2560x1440 work in general? I've seen some worrying comments on reddit about bugs / blurry fonts and that scaling down to 1080p is better? Will scaling a 4k down to 2560x1440 (I need the extra space, 1080p isn't enough) look fine / much better than a 2560x1440 without scaling? ![]() The extra sharpness of a 4k would be great. ![]() If I choose a 4k over a 1440p, will the performance of the Mac decrease? For work I have a M1 MacBook Pro (16GB RAM), but for personal use also a M1 MacBook Air with just 8GB of RAM. I was pretty sure to go with a 1440p and 27'' but the more I read, the more I am not sure what to pick. Right now they are spending around 250 Euro for the monitor mentioned above. Work now asked me which monitor resolution/size I'd recommend in general, still on a budget though. As I am recently having to use a DELL 27'' 1080p for work (in home office) I've asked for something better to actually have two documents next to each other without overlapping. ![]() I've been doing a bunch of research already but would love some advice from you. ![]()
